This Auction is for a gold filled necklace and a aprox 15 mm locket with a fired, polished, machined .223 bullet: The locket itself is a Vintage 12k gold filled locket, custom made
The locket itself, comprised of the crystals and bezel, is hand made from vintage, new old stock. These lockets are made from the inherited contents of my grandfather's jewelry briefcase. Inside the briefcase, there were materials to make both an approximately 20mm ( large locket) and 15 mm (smaller locket) and books of ancient gold leaf. He had the 23k gold leaf (place carefully inside locket) and a bunch of other jewelry making materials. He also left a few completed lockets that gave us a great example of how to make these. My grandfather made and sold jewelry in his shop in Leadville, Colorado closing in the early 70's. I remember as a child that he was always giving these lockets as gifts to family and friends. My daughter and I put together lockets for all the girls in the family this year for Christmas and now we are ready for production. We decide to put a few completed lockets up for sale (see my other auctions for examples). The locket components (crystals and bezels) have been stored for over 50 years and have survived time quite nicely. They are new, old stock and have never been worn. These, being gold-filled are extremely durable and will last for a long time. I've added a new beautiful 18 inch 14k gold filled cable chain to each locket. The larger locket is roughly the size of a quarter. We are branching out and adding other unique items to these lockets and the results are elegant.
Inside this locket I've placed a cut and machined set of 223 bullets, joined back to back. I spent some time cutting, joining and polishing this item and I think it looks quite nice inside this locket. The bullet itself floats inside the locket and is the same from either side. It adds a nice color to this very eye catching piece. I think that this "bullet" jewelry is a step above and is a great example of fine jewelry. The bullet slice itself is a 223 Winchester, fired by me. Please look at my other auctions for empty lockets and other items for sale that showcase these rare and unique items. I'm making more and will be listing them. Ask any questions you have. Thanks for looking
